doctoremmet Lovely introspective piece by an artist I just discovered (via YT). Evocative composition full of emotion and a compelling listen. I like the poem too, and how it thematically relates to the harmonic development as well. Love this. <3

about

This song just came to me one night. I honestly just downloaded this new plugin from a Youtuber I support (Dave Hilowitz) and mixed it with this other one I have called Amber, which is a down-tuned string quartet.

I just started playing layer by layer and bam. There it was. The very next day I could finish it! This RARELY happens to me, that 'the muses' just strike! Usually my work is methodical and builds more slowly, but cases like this are so much fun and I'm so happy to share it with you.

I've named it "The Clock Man" after this poem by Shel Silverstein, possibly due to the fact that I've been reflecting on the finite nature of life lately.

The Clock Man, by Shel Silverstein:

How much will you pay for an extra day?”
The clock man asked the child.
“Not one penny,” the answer came,
“For my days are as many as smiles.”

“How much will you pay for an extra day?”
He asked when the child was grown.
“Maybe a dollar or maybe less,
For I’ve plenty of days of my own.”

“How much will you pay for an extra day?”
He asked when the time came to die.
“All of the pearls in all of the seas,
And all of the stars in the sky.”
